Understanding the figures

What Do the Numbers Actually Mean?

The vehicle lookup shows estimated gains in brake horsepower (BHP) and Newton-metres (Nm) of torque. Here's what to expect from a typical Stage 1 remap:

Power (BHP)

Brake horsepower is the usable power output of the engine at the crank. A typical 2.0 TDI producing 150 BHP from the factory might deliver 190-200 BHP after a Stage 1 remap. More BHP means quicker acceleration and higher top speed.

Torque (Nm)

Torque is the rotational force the engine produces. It's what you feel when you put your foot down — that surge of acceleration. A Stage 1 remap on a 2.0 TDI often delivers 30-80 Nm more torque, which makes the car feel much stronger in every gear, especially when loaded or towing.

Why the figures are estimates

The lookup tool gives you an indication of what's possible based on the engine variant and the available data. The final figure depends on the specific engine, its condition, mileage, supporting hardware, and the exact ECU software version. Once we've checked your vehicle, we'll confirm a realistic expectation for your specific car or van.

Tuning options

What Tuning Options Are Available?

Depending on your vehicle, one or more of these tuning options may be available:

Stage 1 Performance

The most popular option. Software-only, no hardware changes. More power, more torque, sharper throttle, better drivability.

Stage 1 Economy

Optimised for fuel economy. Lower fuel use on motorway and long-distance driving, while keeping usable performance.

Stage 1 Combined

Balanced between performance and economy. Stronger mid-range and improved MPG. The best of both worlds.

DPF / EGR Solutions

For diesel vehicles with emissions system issues. Diagnostics, cleaning, repair and software optimisation.

Auto Gearbox Tune

For vehicles with automatic or DSG gearboxes. Faster, smoother shifts, better launch response, optimised shift points.

Specialist Software

For vehicles requiring additional ECU unlocking, bench work or mail-in ECU service. We'll explain if this applies to your car.

Remap Options

DTC, launch control, speed and rev limiter, pops & bangs, AdBlue, lambda, return to stock and more specialist features. See the full list and what is suitable for your vehicle.

Important: Please Read

All figures shown by the vehicle gains lookup tool are estimates only, based on available data for the engine variant. Actual results depend on the specific vehicle, its condition, mileage, supporting hardware and ECU software version.

Some vehicles shown in the lookup may not be currently supported, may require additional ECU unlocking, or may need to be completed via a mail-in ECU service before tuning can take place. This will be confirmed once we have checked your specific vehicle.

A remap is a software change to your vehicle's ECU. Customers with a manufacturer warranty, a leased vehicle, or any concerns about the implications of remapping should discuss this with us before booking.

The lookup covers most popular makes and models, but not every vehicle. If you can't find your car, send us a message with the registration and engine details — we can often still help, especially via mail-in ECU service for vehicles that can't be tuned through the OBD port.

Some vehicles require the ECU to be removed and sent to a specialist for bench tuning. We'll explain the process clearly if this applies to your car — including how the ECU is removed, how long it takes, and the cost. Mail-in ECUs are usually back within 2-3 working days.
